French court approves plan to build large mosque in Marseille, France

A French appeals court said a large mosque could be built in Marseille, France, overturning a ruling by the city’s administrative tribunal, which cancelled the construction permit for not meeting requirements for urban planning. There are about 250,000 Muslims living in Marseille, and the $28 million project would give them a Grand Mosque with room for up to 7,000 worshippers. Most members of the community now pray in rented rooms, garages and basements.
